CHILI REGISTRATION

Chili Registration for the 2015 Cook-Off will open on February 1, 2015 at 10:00 AM (MT)

The Snowmass Mammoth Fest features two ICS (International Chili Society) sanctioned chili competitions and tastings for our festival attendees. Categories of chili include Salsa, Green (Verde) Chili and Red Chili. Click HERE for a complete description of the 3 chili categories and cook-off rules.

Red Chili: any kind of meat or combination of meats, cooked with red chili peppers, various spices and other ingredients, with the exception of BEANS and PASTA which are strictly forbidden.

Chili Verde: any kind of meat or combination of meats, cooked with green chili peppers, various spices and other ingredients, with the exception of BEANS and PASTA which are strictly forbidden. 

Salsa: must be homemade by the contestant whose name and ICS # appear on the contestant application. It may be brought to the site that day or it may be prepared at the cook-off.

Chili Competition Prizes:

  • $600 purse - 1st Place - Red Chili Division
    • $300 purse - 2nd Place - Red Chili Division
    • $150 purse - 3rd Place - Red Chili Division
    • Ribbon - People's Choice Award
  • $250 purse - 1st Place - Green Chili Division
    • $125 purse - 2nd Place - Green Chili Division
    • $75 purse - 3rd Place - Green Chili Division
  • $100 purse - 1st Place - Salsa Division
    • $75 purse - 2nd Place - Salsa Division
    • $50 purse - 3rd Place - Salsa Division
  • 2 complimentary weekend passes per registration for cooks to enjoy music and Grand beer tasting!

In all cases, the COOK is cooking for a panel of judges vs to their own individual taste. Rookie/new cooks are very welcome and in fact two cooks won for their first time a few years ago in Snowmass.
